Yvonne Braithwaite – The Story so far!!
I have had a keen
interest in Art and Design from an early age studying both at School and
College winning my first award for the design of a poster encouraging
children to look after their teeth at the age of 15. I joined Kilmood Art
Club in 1996 gaining inspiration
I have exhibited in many local exhibitions including the Arts Society of Ulster in 2002 and culminating in my first solo exhibition in 2004 for the “Art in the Loft” series at Portaferry proving such a success that I was invited to exhibit again in 2005. Also in 2005 I was selected for the Ulster Society of Womens Artists and submitted a number of abstract works to The Rokeby Gallery in Armagh for use as prints for interior design projects.
I work in several mediums particularly acrylics with many of my works reflecting my keen interest in local landscapes, wildlife and still life. The abstract nature of some of my work brings a different perspective to some otherwise familiar landmarks. Much of my work in floral art has been influenced by my favourite artist Georgia O’Keeffe.
In 2007 I was particularly pleased to receive the Kilmood Art Club Millenium prize for my work in the Annual Exhibition as chosen by Mr Neil Shawcross. |
